I’m sorry but I’m very much against this as someone who is black. My parents are both from AL & made a point of having well spoken children.

Many kids whose identities have been shaped by poverty see “proper English” as the oppressor’s tongue and need a relevant mode of expression

I don’t think anybody should be forced to speak “proper” english. People are already so use to the way they’ve spoken their whole lives. .

As language in Ancient times developed, there was still a code of conduct. (i.e. Persians made to speak Aramaic etc.) Maybe this is similar?

Definitely not. Language will develop naturally and “proper” English will one day use words that are commonly a part of “Black English”

People who want to avoid existing solely as slum rats would greatly benefit from proper English. I am quite pedantic.
